Guangzhou Metro Line 10 set to open in 2025
Update: 2025-03-28     Source: GDToday

Guangzhou Metro Line 10 is set to open by the end of this year, with 91% of its civil engineering work completed. The section from Xilang (西塱) Station to Middle Guangzhou Avenue (廣州大道中) Station will begin operation this year, but Tianhe Road Station will not open simultaneously.

Guangzhou Metro Line 10 and Line 12 form diagonal "X-shaped" axes in Guangzhou's urban rail network, and both lines are now in the final phase of operational testing.

Spanning 19.3 kilometers from southwest to northeast, Line 10 features 13 stations and one depot. It serves as a densification line strengthening metro coverage in the core districts of Tianhe, Yuexiu, Haizhu, and Liwan Districts, while also acting as an external connection, linking its western end with the Guangfo Line and Line 22.

The 17.2-kilometer section from Xilang to Middle Guangzhou Avenue, comprising 12 stations, is expected to open within the year. However, Tianhe Road Station will not open simultaneously due to its complex surroundings—it is located in a busy commercial area with extensive underground space. The station's construction, which uses an underground excavation method, has faced slow progress due to site constraints. It remains in the civil engineering stage and will not be operational upon the initial launch.

Xilang Station will be Guangzhou Metro's first four-line interchange hub upon completion. Passengers can transfer between the already operational Line 1 and Guangfo Line, as well as the soon-to-open Metro Line 10 and the extended section of Line 22.

Line 10 will feature special designs for three themed stations, and a theme color will be selected for each district to reflect each district's cultural and environmental characteristics.

Three specially themed stations:

Guanggang New City (廣鋼新城) Station: energetic lifestyle;

Donghu (東湖) Station: leisure lifestyle;

Haizhu District: Canton Embroidery blue inspired by the Pearl River scenery;

Liwan District: eco-green symbolizing a sustainable and lively environment.
